Why should you leave a tip in the tip jar?
Because just like the canvas artists that line Macdougal on a Saturday, and just like the portrait painters on 42nd street, and just like the graphic tee-shirt designers and candle-makers and plain-object sculptors that fill up Union Square Park, my craft is my soul.
Because maybe I wrote something that connected and resonated with you on an emotional, intellectual, or spiritual level.
Because jazz musicians pass around a tip jar when they play at clubs, and I am a jazz musician.
Because hosting is not free, and my hosting company gets very upset with me when I don’t pay them.
Because I asked you nicely and said “pretty please.”
Because you just want to show me love, which I gladly, graciously, and appreciatively accept.
Pretty please, show your love and appreciation for the art of writing and leave a tip in the tip jar. Thank you so much.
