#Poetry Corner Friday: I’ve seen you

I have seen the realness in your face
For a moment you were
For a moment you were bare-eyed
your paint had melted
the clown was gone
the stage-actor
and I saw
and I saw (I believe I did)
the truthfulness
the ugly
the ugly the plain taste
like raw cocoa butter
or like
or like stripped wood
or like stripped wood you tasted like
the african gods
before they met jesus
before they met jesus tasted like
an iridescent darkness
your lips against my face
were chapped
and maybe for a moment there
was only you
was only you only me
was only you only me I’ve seen you
I’ve tasted you
I’ve seen…
I’ve seen you…

I can't decide whether you like what you saw behind the mask, but I really like the poem!

this is such an excellent poem I do not think people should hide behind all the makeup they put on and I love the way you express this here http://gatelesspassage.com/2011/10/10/the-bird-of
